Basketball community pays condolence visit to Igoche Mark over mother's death
Members of the basketball community in Nigeria over the weekend paid a condolence visit to basketball promoter and Initiator of the Mark D’Ball Basketball Championship, Mr. Igoche Mark, over the death of his mother, Madam Veronica Mark.
The delegation, led by the Vice Chairman of the Kaduna State Basketball Association, Ahmed Tijjani Ibrahim, visited Mr. Mark in Abuja to commiserate with him and his family.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ibrahim prayed for God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
“We are here as one basketball family to stand with you in this moment of grief. We pray that God gives you and the entire Mark family the strength to bear this great loss,” Ibrahim said.
Responding, Mr. Igoche Mark thanked the basketball family for the show of love and solidarity.
“It is in the moment of grief that one knows how genuinely one is loved. I sincerely appreciate the basketball family for this visit and for standing with me,” Mark said.
Paying tribute to his mother, the basketball promoter described their bond as very close, noting that he spoke with her at least once every day.
“I was very close to my mom. I always speak to mama at least once a day. She departed this world peacefully, shortly after my birthday anniversary,” he added.
Madam Veronica Mark died on June 29, 2025.
Dignitaries and stakeholders from across the basketball fraternity were present to offer prayers and support to the Mark family during the visit.
