Atalanta says €60m for Lookman or no deal
According to Italian news outlet, Calciomercato, current Europa League champion, Atalanta will demand around €60 million to part ways with Super Eagles striker, Ademola Lookman in the summer transfer window.
Already, three Premier League teams, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are in the frame to snatch the Nigerian.
However, the three Premier League clubs, according to reports, are ready to meet La Dea’s valuation for the Nigerian, who has resurrected his stuttering career since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in August 2022.
The 26-year-old could not establish himself as a dependable performer in the Premier League during his spell with Everton. The move to RB Leipzig was not successful, either.
However, the Nigerian international has gone from strength to strength in the last two years. Lookman was exceptional in the 2023/24 season, contributing to 27 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 17 times while providing ten assists.
His stellar performance with Atalanta in the Europa League final against German Bundesliga champion, Bayer Leverkusen in Dublin, where he bagged a hat-trick and became the first African and Nigerian to do so, alerted several top clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
Chelsea will aim to sign a wide attacker in the summer transfer window due to the inconsistent performances of Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk. The Blues wanted to sign Michael Olise but have lost the race to Bayern Munich. Lookman has thus emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.
