YSFON mourns former NFF President, Ibrahim Galadima

National President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has expressed deep sorrow over the death of onetime President of then Nigeria Football Association (now Nigeria Football Federation), Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima.

Alhaji Galadima died Saturday in Kano at the age of 74.

In a condolence message he issued, Gawuna who was the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State noted that with the death of Galadima, Kano State and the entire nation has lost an astute sports administrator whose fatherly counseling and adivise would be highly missed.

Gawuna while condoling with his family, Kano State and the entire football family in the country, prayed Almighty Allah to grant his Soul eternal rest and give those he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss

In a similar development, National Secretary of YSFON, Patrick Okpavuerhe has also expressed shock over the demise of Alhaji Galadima.

He described him as a perfect gentleman who recognizes the important role YSFON plays in the country's grassroots football developement; saying that the Federation will highly miss him.

" It's saddening that we lost Alhaji Galadima at this time. I remember with nostalgia the recommendation he gave to YSFON during a public presentation of a paper on the country's sports development plan in Abuja and I'm happy that he lived a fulfilled life.

"My prayer goes to the family he left behind and that God grant his soul eternal rest", he concluded.

Alhaji Galadima served as NFA President from 2002-2006. Prior to that time, he served as Chairman of Kano State Football Association from 1977-1979. He was also Executive Chairman of Kano

State Sports Council from 1981-1983.

Other positions he held were; 1st Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Member of the Presidential Monitoring Committee for Stadia Development for the FIFA World Youth Championship, and Commissioner for Social Welfare, Youth and Sports in Kano State.
