Why New Year Mega Lottery is investing in the league

The MD/CEO of New Year Mega Lottery Limited, the tittle sponsors of the Nationwide League One, Chief Sunday Adeleye has explained reasons the company decided to invest in the league.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2024 New Year Mega Lottery Nationwide League One in Kaduna, Chief Adeleye disclosed that it is his love to give back to the society, especially through sport that brought him to limelight.

"The only language I understand is giving back to the society and since I am into sport, I believe in giving back to society and Nigeria youth through sports."

He added said as part of the sports family and someone that has been into football, athletics and done so much around the sport industry, the language he understand is giving back to the youth, through sport.

"Sports made me who I am today. The language I understand is giving back to the society and I have been all around the sector. Sport made me who I am today, so I feel I should give back to the youth through sports. To advise the youth so they can follow my footsteps and become better than me. It's not something I just jumped into but it is something I have been doing and I will continue to do," he said.

On the possibility of renewing the four-year contract with the NLO, Adeleye said; "we are just starting. It's a marraige we are just entering and we're looking forward to making it better. We are not looking at football alone but to athletics and other sports. What we understand about sports development is that if funding and support is not there, it becomes difficult for sports to thrive. That is one sector other corporate bodies are not looking at. We are taking advantage of it and putting our money into sports because we were born into it sport, so we will continue to do more in the area of sports development."

On the reason why as a new company, New Year Mega Lottery is venturing straight into sponsorship, Adeleye said he believes that if you want to get publicity as a company, the best way to get that is through sport, especially football.

Chief Adeleye, on behalf of the company, gave out official match balls, batches, comprehensive branding materials to all the participating teams.

New Year Mega Lottery Limited just signed a four-year sponsorship deal with the Nationwide League One worth N964 million as the title sponsor.
The league started on April 13 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna between with the opening game Kaduna United and Yoca Crocodiles which end 2-0 in the favour of Yoca Crocodiles.
