Visa process aborts Super Eagles, Argentina friendly in USA
The much advertised friendly match between World champions, Argentina and runner up in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Super Eagles of Nigeria, scheduled for the USA, has been called off, reports www.sportsunlimited.ng.
The match was initially billed for China but due to fans backlash over Lionel Messi's no show for Inter Miami, in a friendly, forced the Argentina, Nigeria match to be shifted to USA on March 26.
But a source in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has informed that the game has been cancelled due to visa related issues.
"The NFF has just been been informed that the friendly match between Nigeria and Argentina scheduled for the United States of America has been called off because the organiser couldn't get visas for us.""
The US are strict on issuance of the visas, the organiser told us. So, we can't get visas therefore the friendly match is no longer to hold.
"He continued, "Once the date is FIFA window for international games, we are looking forward to having another country to replace the World champions to play friendly match with Super Eagles," according to BSN Sports.
