Chairman of Bendel Insurance FC and Chairman of the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Jarret Tenebe, on Friday stormed the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt to cheer Edo Queens to a vital victory in the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six.
His presence appeared to inspire the Former champions as Edo Queens defeated hosts Rivers Angels 2-1, moving to the top of the Super Six standings with one match remaining.
The victory takes Edo Queens to 9 points, while title rivals Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons are tied on 7 points, occupying second and third positions respectively.
Edo Queens will now face Bayelsa Queens in what promises to be a decisive title clash on Sunday.
Speaking to the players after the match, Tenebe congratulated the team for their impressive performance and conveyed the support of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
"The Governor is very happy with your performance," Tenebe told the players. "Just go ahead and win this tournament and see what he will do for you."
The APC chairman further motivated the players with financial incentives, revealing that he had already approved a reward of N500,000 for each goal scored against Rivers Angels.
"For me, I have already promised N500,000 for each goal, and I will send it to your captain immediately," he said.
Tenebe also pledged an additional N5 million personal reward if Edo Queens successfully retain the NWFL Super Six title.
"As a matter of fact, you have done well. Just complete the job by winning the competition on Sunday," he concluded.
With the title race now heading into the final round, all eyes will be on the highly anticipated showdown between Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens, a match that could determine the champions of the 2026 NWFL Super Six.
