Yesterday's 2-0 victory for the Super Eagles was painful retirement for Algeria captain, Riyad_Mahrez, as he bows out of the national.

Going by his pre-match interview, the Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia right winger will no longer play in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Apart from Nigeria booking a place in the semi final with host Morocco the next opponent, it a day made for the Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen as he not only scored the opening goal but provided the assist for Akor Adams to give Nigeria a 2-0 victory.

Osimhen who was largely criticized for his conduct in the quarter final 4-0 win over Mozambique ran the show with a goal and an assist.

He opened the scoring in the 47th minute with a well placed header from a Bruno Onyemaechi cross. It was the first goal that the goalkeeper of Algeria Luca Zidane has conceded in the tournament.

Osimhen turned provider for the second goal by latching onto a defence splitting pass from Alex Iwobi to set up Jerome Akor, who rounded the goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net.

They hanged on to claim a well deserved win and also a spot in the semi final, where they will take on the host Morocco.
