Stakeholders salute Lagos FA boss on NFF appointment
President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau on Thursday, inaugurated the Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee.
Prominent amongst the committee members is Hajji Gafar Liameed, the Chairman of Lagos State Football Association.
Other members of the committee include Otuekong Nse Essien as Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, Aminu Mohammed Inuwa, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, Richard Jideaka Yabagi Alhaji Baba and Abubakar Umar.
Football stakeholders in Lagos State have come out in unison to describe the appointment of Hajji Gafar Liameed, as a welcome development that promises better prospects for the development of Futsal and Beach Soccer in the state, as well as, the conventional football.
A football club owner, Samson Anietie expressed optimism that the appointment of said Hajji Liameed into the committee, would positively impact on that aspect of football, because Lagos State has the potentials to do very well in futsal and beach soccer.
Other stakeholders believe that Hajji Gafar would bring on his enthusiasm, positive energy and resourcefulness to make the committee achieve its goals. Adding that this appointment would surely serve as the key to the overall development of football in Lagos State.
The Futsal and Beach Soccer Sub-Committee is responsible for the organisation of all futsal and beach soccer competitions and deals with all matters relating to futsal and beach soccer.
The Confederation of African Football last week conducted the draw for this year’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series with the Supersand Eagles drawn to play Mauritania home and away next month. A total of 14 countries will be involved in the qualifiers, with the seven winners to join hosts Egypt at the finals.
Mauritania will host the Supersand Eagles on a day between July 19 and 21, with Nigeria hosting the return leg a week later.
