Saudi side joins Trabzonspor in race for Onuachu
Saudi Pro-League side Al-Okhdood have joined Trabzonspor in the race to sign Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu, according to Al-Riyadiyah via NTVSpor.
The report went as far as stating that the Saudi Arabian outfit is on the verge of reaching an agreement for the signature of the lanky striker after a successful negotiation with Southampton.
Al-Okhdood got nearly relegated in the Saudi Pro-League last term with a lack of cutting edge in the final third being one of the club's problems and it's trying to avoid a repeat of such in the coming campaign by signing Onuachu.
The 30-year-old was in spectacular form in the Turkish topflight last season and was not only a standout player for Trabzonspor but also in the entire division and wants to continue his stay there.
It has been reported that he has agreed personal terms with the Black Sea Storm but the club has struggled to strike an agreement with Southampton which has given Al-Okhdood the opportunity to join the pursuit.
The Saints were initially holding out for €15m for the Nigerian forward but have reportedly reduced it to €10m but Trabzonspor is still struggling to cough out such amount.
The Turkish outfit still hold of the advantage at the moment, because Onuachu is willing to stay at the club but will have to hasten its negotiation with Southampton.
