Peter Obi condoles Nigerians on Henry Nwosu's death

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has joined eminent Nigerians in mourning the death of Henry Nwosu, who died yesterday at the age of 62.

In a message on his X (Twitter) handl, Obi, now a chieftain of the African Democratic Party (ADC), said Nwosu, at just 18 years of age, created memories that united Nigerians across every divide, showing that sport can inspire hope, pride, and a sense of national belonging.

"I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Nigerian football legend, Henry Nwosu. He was one of the great patriots I enjoyed watching as a child.

"He gave his talent and energy to lift the spirit of our nation on the football field. As a key member of the team that brought Nigeria glory at the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations, when I was only 18, he created memories that united Nigerians across every divide, showing us that sport can inspire hope, pride, and a sense of national belonging," the former Anambra State governor said.

According to Obi, Nigeria will always be grateful for the role Nwosu played in building the proud history of Nigeria's football.

"My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, and the entire Nigerian football community. I pray that God grants his loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss and grants his soul eternal rest. May his legacy continue to inspire young Nigerians to serve our nation with excellence and humility," Obi prayed.
