PCN congratulates Olumide Oyedeji on election as Secretary General, World Olympian Association

The Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN) has congratulated former Nigerian international and Olympian, Mr. Olumide Oyedeji, on his election as Secretary General of the World Olympian Association (WOA), describing the feat as a landmark achievement for Nigeria and the African sports community.

In a statement credited to the President of the Paralympic Committee of Nigeria, Mr. Sunday Odebode, and issued through the Office of the Public Relations Officer, Niyi Alebiosu, the PCN noted that Oyedeji’s emergence into such a strategic global position is a testament to his pedigree, integrity, and long-standing contributions to sports development.

According to the statement, Mr. Oyedeji’s election further reinforces Nigeria’s growing influence in international sports governance and affirms the capacity of Nigerians to contribute meaningfully at the highest levels of global sports administration.

“Olumide Oyedeji’s election as Secretary General of the World Olympian Association is not only a personal triumph, but a collective pride for Nigeria. It reflects the confidence of the global sporting community in his leadership, experience, and vision,” President Odebode said.

The PCN President added that the Paralympic movement in Nigeria draws inspiration from such milestones, emphasizing that inclusive leadership and global collaboration remain critical to advancing sports for persons with disabilities worldwide.

The Committee expressed confidence that Oyedeji’s wealth of experience as an Olympian and sports administrator will positively impact the WOA and further strengthen the values of Olympism, unity, and service to athletes across the world.

The Paralympic Committee of Nigeria wished Mr. Oyedeji a successful and impactful tenure and reaffirmed its commitment to working with global sports bodies in promoting excellence, inclusiveness, and good governance in sports.
