Osimhen sees yellow, scores 5th straight league goal

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his impressive run in front of goal as Galatasaray sealed a convincing 3–0 victory over Rizespor this evening.

The Nigerian international put the result beyond doubt at the Çaykur Didi Stadium, scoring Galatasaray’s third goal after Barış Alper Yılmaz and Yunus Akgün had given the visitors a comfortable two-goal cushion.

Osimhen showed composure and class, latching onto a through pass from Noa Lang, rounding Ivorian goalkeeper Yahia Fofana, and calmly slotting the ball into the net.

The goal secured Galatasaray their biggest away win at the Çaykur Didi Stadium in the Süper Lig since November 2020, when they previously secured a 4–0, according to Opta Can.

Meanwhile, the strike took Osimhen’s tally to 15 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions this season.

It was also his ninth league goal of the campaign, moving him closer to leading scorers Paul Onuachu and Eldor Shomurodov at the top of the Super Lig goals chart.

Osimhen’s goal extended his scoring streak in the Turkish Super Lig to five consecutive matches.

Before the clash with Rizespor, the 27-year-old had found the net against Samsunspor, Antalyaspor, Fatih Karagümrük, and Kayserispor.

With 13 matches remaining in the season, Osimhen will be keen to maintain his fine form as Galatasaray push to defend their league title, while the Nigerian forward eyes a return to the summit of the scoring chart he topped last campaign.

Galatasaray currently sit top of the Super Lig standings with 52 points from 21 matches, holding a six-point advantage over Fenerbahçe, who are second and have a game in hand against Gençlerbirliği on Monday.
