Onwuzurike to join Team Nigeria camp in Aberdeen ahead Commonwealth Games
Nigeria’s sprint sensation, Udodi Onwuzurike, has expressed confidence in his readiness to join Team Nigeria’s training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
The American-based sprinter, who ran the Commonwealth Games qualifying time of 20.2 seconds in the 200m in April, disclosed that he is making steady progress in his recovery and will soon be fully fit to rejoin competitive preparations with the national team.
Udodi, who has been sidelined while undergoing rehabilitation, revealed that he has now resumed training and is optimistic about returning to peak condition within the next week.
According to the young sprint star, his recovery process has gone well, and he remains focused on contributing to Team Nigeria’s campaign at the Games.
“I’m back training after rehab and feeling much better. In about a week, I should be ready to fully join the team in camp at Aberdeen,” he said.
His return is expected to provide a major boost for Nigeria’s sprint squad, especially in the men’s 200m and relay events, where his explosive speed and experience on the international stage will be valuable assets.
Udodi has continued to establish himself as one of Nigeria’s brightest sprint talents, earning recognition for his impressive performances both at collegiate level in the United States and on the global athletics scene.
With the Commonwealth Games fast approaching, Team Nigeria will be hopeful that the return of key athletes like Onwuzurike will strengthen the nation’s medal prospects in athletics.
