The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Malam Shehu Dikko, has highlighted the essense of the Police Games.

The NSC henchman gave the insights when he attended the official unveiling of the Logo, Mascot, and Theme for the 15th Biennial Police Games, Asaba 2026 on December 3, 2025, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan International Peacekeeping Conference Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The 2026 edition of the Nigeria Police Games (15th Biennial) succeeds the 14th edition held earlier in 2024 in Ibadan, where over 4,000 police athletes from 17 zonal commands competed across multiple disciplines, and the FHQ (Abuja) led the medal table with 93 medals.

As one of Nigeria’s oldest and most historic inter-agency multi-sport events, the Police Games have been instrumental in talent discovery and fostering sporting excellence within the security community, producing exceptional athletes and contributing to national sports heritage through individuals such as former world-class boxers, Olympians, and national-level players.

During the event, the Chairman reiterated the National Sports Commission’s readiness to support the Nigeria Police Force in leveraging the Games as a platform for youth development, institutional discipline, and national unity, underscoring the shared belief that sport remains a powerful tool for peace, cohesion, and national identity.

With Asaba 2026 on the horizon, this collaboration signals a renewed push for stronger inter-agency sporting partnerships and a broader talent pipeline that could benefit Nigerian sports at large.
