NPFL bars 3SC from Lekan Salami Stadium

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has disqualified Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan from playing league matches at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

The league, in a letter dated January 30, 2026 and signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, informed the 3SC management that the stadium is no more suitable for broadcast of league matches.

"We wish to inform you that subsequent to the broadcast and television rights entered into by the Nigeria Premier Football League recently, it has become necessary to inform you that the LEKAN SALAMI STADIUM is no more suitable to host NPFL matches," the letter said.

However, the NPFL offered Shooting Stars two alternative venues to choose for their subsequent home matches.

"You are required to choose an alternative venue between the MKO ABIOLA STADIUM ABEOKUTA and the MOBOLAJI JOHNSON ARENA, LAGOS to host your home fixtures," the statement added.

Shooting Stars management has a deadline of Monday February 2 to communicate to the NPFL, failure which the league body would be forced to allocate a venue for them.
