NNL to further increase referees' indemnities

As from the second half of the season, referees officiating the Nigeria National League (NNL) will enjoy further increase in their match indemnity.

The chairman of the Nigeria National League, George Aluo disclosed to Sporting Vanguard that the increase was in response to the directive of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Shehu Gusau during the signing of the 10-year N20 Billion sponsorship deal brokered with Top tier Sports Management in Abuja at the weekend.

Aluo stressed that at the beginning of the season, the NNL management increased the referees’ indemnities and with the new deal with Toptier, the arbiters are poised to get more.

“We intend to further improve the referee’ indeminities on resumption of the second stanza in line with the directive of the NFF president. Not only that, they will be paid even before the games,” Aluo said.

Aluo thanked Toptier Sports Management for the partnership, assuring transparency in the deal’s implementation and accountability for every kobo. He described the agreement as a turning point, shifting Nigerian football from short-term funding cycles to sustainable institution-building over the next decade.
