NNL lifts ban on Oluyemi Kayode Stadium
... As Ekiti United returns to home ground.
Football fans in Ekiti State will on Sunday enjoy live action involving the state football team, Ekiti United as the Nigeria National Football League (NNL) Stadium Compliance Committe has lifted the ban placed on the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti from hosting league matches.
Due to poor state of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium pitch, the NNL had previously taken Ekiti United's match to Akure where it played and lost to Madiba FC.
Following the unpleasant situation, the managements of the Ekiti State Sports Council and Ekiti United Football Club intensified efforts to ensure the pitch regained it's grass as all matches were barred from taking place there since then.
The lifting of the ban was announced by the Secretary of Ekiti United, Ayodeji Olowolafe late Thursday having received an official letter from the NNL to confirm the positive development.
With the development, Ekiti United will lock horns with Vandrezzer FC in one of the Week 15 league matches billed for this weekend
Fans of the club home and abroad are expecting Ekiti United to return to winning ways starting with this weekend match.
After playing 14 matches thus far, Ekiti United is having 13 points, though with better goal difference than Vandrezzer FC, which also has 13 points.
The top two teams in each of the NNL conferences will qualify for the Super 8 while the bottom three would be relegated to the lower league.
