…Ratifies relegation of Gombe, Rovers, eight others to NLO

The board of the Nigeria National League ( NNL) has confirmed the promotion of four clubs to the Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL) as well as ratified the demotion of 10 clubs to the Nation wide League One following their poor performance in the just concluded 2025/2026 league season.

This was part of the decision reached after it's end of the season board meeting held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at the auditorium of Beyond Limits Fc, Ikenne, Ogun State.

In a communique issued after the meeting, the board listed the promoted teams as ; Doma Fc, Sporting Lagos, Ranchers Bees and Inter Lagos Football Clubs.

Those that got relegated are;.Gombe Utd FC, Sporting Supreme Fc, Mighty Jets, City Fc and Dakkada Fc.

Others are; Abia Comets Fc, Gateway Fc, First Bank Fc, Osun United Fc and Rovers Football Club

The communique also thanked the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau for the ingenuity he employed in piloting the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation, his unwavering interest in the activities of the Nigeria National League (NNL), and the entire NFF Board for their unflinching support and continuous guidance to make NNL the Most Important League in Nigeria.

The Board also thanked Hon. Kunle Soname for being an ardent believer in the good cause of the Nigeria National League, and for providing his ultra modern facilities at the Remo Stars FC Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State to stage the 2026 Super 4 competition.

According to the communique, the board applauded the cordial relationship that exists between the NNL Board and NALCOMA in the administration of the League, while hoping that the relationship and collaboration would be solidified in the 2026/2027 League season just as it

commended the NFF referees and match commissioners appointment Committees for being proactive in discharging their duties in the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League season, while admitting that there is more rooms for improvement.

The board while proposing late July or early August, 2026 as possible months to hold it's Annual General Meeting (AGM) in a state to be announced later, passed a vote of confidence on the NNL Chairman, Mr. George Aluo for his transparency, leadership style and the transformation he has brought to the second tier league.
