Nigeria face Senegal in 9th-16th classification at African Women’s Volleyball Championship

Nigeria’s women’s volleyball team will begin their battle for a top-10 finish at the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship when they take on Senegal today.

The classification match, scheduled for 1:00 p.m. local time (10:00a.m. GMT), will be played at the Kasarani Arena in Nairobi, Kenya, venue for the championship.

The encounter is part of the tournament’s 9th-16th classification phase, with both Nigeria and Senegal looking to finish the competition on a strong note after missing out on the championship’s knockout race.

Nigeria will be expected to approach the contest with renewed determination as the team seeks to secure a favourable final position in the continental competition.

The clash against Senegal is the first of three classification matches scheduled for the day. Zambia will face Burkina Faso at 4:00 p.m. local time (1:00 p.m. GMT), while Burundi will battle Mali at 7:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. GMT).

The 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship is being held in Nairobi from August 23 to September 5, bringing together some of the continent’s leading women’s volleyball nations.

For Nigeria, victory over Senegal would provide an important boost as the team continues its campaign for a strong finish in Kenya.
