NBBF President Kida thanks Tinubu for fulfilling Afrobasket promises to D'Tigress
It was a moment to once again witness and savour the fulfillment of one of the several life-changing initiatives hinged on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the record winners of the Afrobasket championship, D'Tigress, received their certificates of ownership of the promised houses and national honours, by the federal government.
During the presentation of the certificates to the players, officials and management of the team, an obviously delighted President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, was quick to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fulfilling his pledge to members of Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team.
Kida, in his speech noted that the honours given to the team, would certainly go a long way to reassure the team and of course, the up and coming generations of athletes, that the government of President Bola Tinubu, is intentional about the empowerment and development of the Nigerian youth, using sports as a veritable tool.
President Tinubu had pledged that each member of the victorious team would receive $100,000 and a house in Abuja as a reward for winning the continental basketball tournament and for bringing pride and honour to the country.
Kida went on to appreciate the selfless efforts and contributions of the leadership of the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko and the Director-General, Bukola Olopade, to the development of sports in Nigeria.
Kida, reassured that the kind and benevolent gestures of the federal government would further spur the Rena Wakama led team to remain consistent and domineering in African and global basketball stages.
