NBBF board tenure over, no extension - Col Ahmedu

A member of the outgoing board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) and President of FIBA Zone 3 Africa, Colonel Sam Ahmedu (Rtd) has insisted there must be an election to elect new board members for the federation by March ending.

Col Ahmedu, in an exclusive chat with www.sportsunlimited.ng, said no matter the gains the outgoing board made, it has to terminate to pave way for fresh ideas.

"The NBBF board under the leadership of Engineer Kida, which I'm also a member, ceased to function January 31 and there will be no extension.

"Although some people are making moves to extend to October, that will be accepting illegality because the constitution allows us till January 31.

"And during our meeting, we agreed to start the process of electing new members and that process should end by March 31", he said.

Col Ahmedu added that no matter the achievements recorded by Engineer Kida and his board, it's imperative that they exit the stage for fresh hands to take over the affairs of the NBBF.
