By Vincent Akinbami
Former Nigeria's Golden Eaglets chief coach, Manu Garba has queued behind indigenous coach for the Super Eagles.
According to him, the home coaches will do better than the foreign coaches if they get the desired support and remuneration. "We have lot of good home coaches and I strongly believe they will do better than the foreign coaches if given the desired support and remuneration," he said.
On the use of home based players for the Super Eagles, he said the administrators must first stop the exodus of our league players to other leagues, especially the smaller ones both in Africa and abroad.
"To do that, players' remuneration must be improved. We must get genuine sponsors for the league, bring in big companies with good marketing drive.
"For us to stop these boys from travelling, their welfare package in terms of welfare package as in salaries, match bonuses, must be paid promptly and must be good like it done in south Africa, Tunisia, Morocco,Tanzania, etc. This will prevent players from moving.
"Also pitches, officiating and mode of traveling for away matches must be improved. With all the above,we can get some of our home based players to stay more at home and get them to play for the Super Eagles," coach Garba said.
