Lawrence Okolie fight date in Lagos shifted
The Detty December Fest fight night in Ilubirin, Lagos, has been rescheduled to 21 December 2025, bringing a stacked card that includes Lawrence Okolie, Tony Yoka, and several rising prospects.
Initially set for 19 December, the main event has experienced a significant change. Billy Nelson, trainer of former IBF heavyweight contender Martin Bakole, described the headline matchup as “shocking” as Lawrence Okolie was pitted against Ebeneezer Tetteh.
In the co-main, Olympic gold medalist Tony Yoka stepped in to replace David Adeleye against Patrick Korte.
“Absolutely shocking opponent,” Nelson stated in response to the whole card announcement.
The change has created a significant shift in the card. Okolie faces the former unified cruiserweight champion in what promises to be a one-sided heavyweight showdown.
Yoka, gold medalist and former heavyweight champion of France, takes on Korte on short notice.
The event, promoted as Chaos in the Ring, promises a mix of established names and rising talent.
Fans and insiders are focused on Okolie vs Tetteh, but the sudden addition of Tony Yoka has drawn significant attention due to the short-notice nature of the matchup.
The Detty December Fest is one of the highlights of the Nigerian boxing calendar, combining big-name fighters with a big-name promoter.
