The Kano State Government is set to empower 60 grassroots football clubs across 12 Local Government Areas as part of its efforts to promote sports development and create opportunities for young talents.

The initiative, championed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf through his Special Adviser on Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Musa Sani Danja, will see selected clubs receive football kits, including jerseys, goalkeeper gloves and other sporting materials.

The distribution ceremony is scheduled to take place at Coronation Hall, Kano Government House, this weekend. Five clubs from each of the 12 participating LGAs will benefit from the programme.

The benefiting LGAs include Fagge, Dala, Gwale, Tarauni, Nassarawa, Ungogo, Kumbotso, Gezawa, Wudil, Bichi, Dawakin Kudu and one additional participating LGA.

Speaking on the initiative, Musa Sani Danja said the government would continue to provide sporting equipment and other support to motivate young people and encourage active participation in sports.

He added that the programme is designed to create opportunities for youths to develop their talents and contribute to the growth of football and sports in Kano State.

The event will also feature honorary awards for selected fan clubs, including supporters of Kano Pillars, Barau FC, Bichi First and the Super Eagles, in recognition of their contribution to football development and support.
