Perhaps Celtic new manager, Wilfried Nancy would have taken consolation in Kelechi Iheanacho's disallowed goal but that wasn't to be on a night the Scottish team floundered althrough against Roma in the UEFA Europa League.
Iheanacho replaced Daizen Maeda halfway mark of the game. He showed flashes of his old self and was almost compensated with a goal but was disallowed for offside.
That was about Celtic's positive in the night they got hammered 3-0.
The worst scenario came earlier when Arne Engels missed a penalty.
Engels thought he had provided a slight glimmer of hope for his side at the end of the first half when he won a penalty.
The Belgian, usually ever-reliable from the spot, stepped up and rattled the post. The miss more or less summed up an incredibly miserable evening for Celtic.
