NFF gives Chelle AFCON final target

Eric Chelle can keep his job with Nigeria as long as he guide the Super Eagles to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
This was the assertion of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau in an interview with ex international, Chief Segun Odegbami on Eagles FM.
Alhaji Gusau disclosed that the realistic target given the coach is to reach the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“The mandate the NFF has given the coach is to reach the final of the AFCON,” Gusau said. “We are going to reach the final in Morocco, by the grace of God.”
Chelle’s squad selection has generated widespread debate, particularly over goalkeeping choices and the omission of several established internationals.
Gusau denies interference claimsthat the federation interfere with players selection, saying “I have never told any coach, for any of our national teams, any player that they should select,” the NFF president said during the interview with Odegbami.
Similarly, the NFF boss was evasive on his reelection plan, stating that he was yet to make a decision.
“I have not made a decision yet,” he said. “When I have, I’ll let you know.”
