Group cautions Basketball Community on NBBF elections

..Warns against lies, negative statements

Ahead of the forthcoming NBBF Elective Congress slated to hold October 15, 2026, in Yola, Adamawa State, the Nigeria basketball community has been thrown into a restive mood with unfounded allegations and fake stories aimed at discrediting the present NBBF board as elections to a new board looms large.

Reacting to the insinuations and damning falsehood, National Coordinator of Friends Of Nigeria Sports, Chief Diprieye Thompson, warns that rather than heating up the polity with negative vibes, he advised that the concerned stakeholders should rally round the present NBBF board to hold a credible election with the supports of the NOC and NSC.

"If these people peddling rumours and unfounded allegations are genuinely concerned about the future of the game in Nigeria, they should get ready to take parts and of course, participate in the electoral process.

"It is wrong to sit outside and start throwing unnecessary stones at the present NBBF leadership. I understand, also, that some of those people have no voting rights in the coming elections," the fiery sports activist added.

He further challenged the dissenting voices to, "get nominations from whatever is your constituencies, and be a part of the incoming new board or forever shut up".
