Gov. Adeleke hails ‘ID Burster’, to decorate boxer with UBO Belt

Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke has congratulated the Osun State born boxer, Idowu ‘ID Burster’ Rasheed who has just won Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) African Light-Heavyweight title belt after recording a brutal second round knockout against Bastie Samir of Ghana.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Adviser on Sports, Culture and Art to the governor, Hon. Shefiu Iyiola, where Governor Adeleke commended the resilient spirit of ID Burster, which seems to have earned him the rare victory at Kawukudi Park Nima, in Accra, Ghana.

The Osun State government, according to the statement, will soon host the boxer into a banquet reception at the Osun State secretariat, Abere Osogbo where he will be officially decorated by the governor with the UBO African Light-Heavyweight title belt.

It will be recalled that the Ghanaian’s referees and umpires that officiated the fight surprisingly declared the bout as a technical draw despite the fact that the Nigerian boxer knocked out his opponent in the second round.

It took the intervention of the Secretary General of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), Remi Aboderin who called the attention of the President of Universal Boxing Organization with enough video evidence before the UBO via their official media handle overturned the results initially announced by Ghanaian officials and declared ID Burster winner.

Bastie Samir, who has a staggering boxing record of 20 wins, one draw and one loss with 18 knockouts, got knocked down three times within the two rounds from the explosive jabs, hook blows and uppercut punches of Idowu Rasheed who has five wins, one draws and one loss with 5 knockouts on his Boxrec. Bastie Samir was rushed to the clinic for immediate medical attention after the bout.
