Finally, Onuachu breaks goal jinx

Super Eagles striker and last season's Turkish Super Lig highest scorer, Paul Onuachu has finally broken what appears to be his goal jinx this season as Trabzonspor romped to a 5-0 win.

On Sunday, the Nigeria international put his team ahead against Gençlerbirliği in just the 14th minute before Mohamed Sallah increased the tally from the penalty spot in the 19th minute.

Onuachu increased the tally with his second goal and third for Trabzonsor 22 minutes of play.

Last season, Onuachu scored a total of 26 goal across all competitions and was joint winner of the Süper Lig Golden Boot as the league's top scorer with 22 goals and secured the Turkish Cup final with both goals in a 2–1 win against Konyaspor.

The last time Onuachu scored was on May 22, 2026, when he netted both goals in a 2–1 victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Cup final.

The Nigerian was replaced by Franculino, who scored the fifth goal.
