Edo Rugby new chairman to constructs sitting gallery, changing rooms
The newly inaugurated Chairman of Edo State Rugby Association, Mr. Chukwuemeka Anthony has hit the ground running with some positive initiatives towards rugby development in Edo State. Mr. Anthony, with his made 8-man board members after an instant tour of the Rugby Association office facilities where he addressed urgent furniture needs. At their first inaugural meeting immediately after the swearing in ceremony, Mr. Anthony and his team discussed and approved the construction of a temporary storage facility and changing room at the Adolor Rugby grounds for players' convenience. The only dedicated Rugby Pitch in Nigeria at Adolor, Benin City, is without a sitting galleria. the administration of Mr. Anthony is set to construct one with the support of the Edo State Sports Commission. Edo State has been regarded as the home of Rugby in Nigeria and presently has the only dedicated Rugby Pitch in the country. The pitch enjoys fair maintenance and lush green all year round. However, it lacks the sitting gallery for spectators and the changing rooms for players. Construction of sitting gallery is expected to make Adolor Rugby ground a standard field to attract and host National Games like the recently concluded South South ZONAL Rugby League. Edo State won both Male and female beating its neighbour State Delta in the nail bitting finals. Edo State Female Rugby Senior team also holds the back to back defending National Seven's champions. Whilst the Junior Female team is the National Youth Games Gold Medalist. Its male counterpart won Bronze at the last year edition in Asaba. The recently inaugurated Edo State Rugby Association Board Members include Mr Chukwuemeka Anthony, Chief Hope Nelson Eselekhomwen, and Barr. George. Others are Major Ime Akpan, ACP Aigbe Aghahowa, Comrade Joseph Isokpehi, Mr Ntiense Williams - Head Coach and Mr Osakpamwan Obaraye - Organizing Secretary.
