Ebonyi Marathon organises one-day training programme for technical crew

Ahead of the forthcoming 1st Ebonyi Half International Marathon race , the State Ministry of Youth Development in conjunction with Fairplay International organised a one day intensive training for its technical crew and officials at Abakaliki, the state capital.

The participants where drawn from the Ministry of Youth Dev and Sports and the various youth groups including the students.

The train- the trainers programme has the approval of the state government is to attune participants with the latest trend in marathon race.

The capacity building was supervised by Prince Richard Ugo-Idike the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Ebonyi State.

Idike lauded His Excellency, Rt. Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the Governor, Ebonyi State for his youth and Sports friendliness and for the approval granted to the Fairplay International to organize the 1st Ebonyi International Marathon race in the entire South East.

The Commissioner during his speech encouraged the participants to avail themselves of this golden opportunity given to all Ebonyians by the governor to learn more of the sporting skills.

The organiser of the race, Fairplay International headed by Mr Jacob Onu thanked the governor for his show capacity to host marathon in the state.

He charged the participants to pay good attention in order to get the needed skills as officials who will be in charge will not condone any lawlessness.

The technical director of the game, Prince Henry Amike assured that all the necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a superb outings, ranging from the medical, road safety, welfare and security of athletes.

Amike added that over five thousand athletes are expected to participate in this tournament from Nigeria and fifty from outside the country. He therefore call on Nigerians who are yet to pick up their form to do so.

Over one hundred and fifty participants participate in the training programme.
