Ebi Egbe attributes pitch to Super Eagles brilliant run in Morocco

The Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle Sports Facilities Construction Limited, Ebi Egbe, has attributed the Super Eagles’ impressive run at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco to the quality of elite playing surfaces used at the tournament.
Egbe said the standard of the pitches has allowed players to express themselves fully, reduced injuries, and enhanced the overall quality of football on display, placing Nigeria among the standout teams of the competition.
According to him, modern, well-maintained pitches are no longer a luxury but a necessity for top level football.
“When players trust the surface beneath their feet, they play with confidence and freedom,” Egbe said.
“The elite pitches in Morocco have clearly brought out the best in the Super Eagles. You can see the fluidity, the speed of play, and the tactical discipline these are signs of football played on the right foundation.”
Egbe also praised the Nigerian players for their commitment and professionalism, noting that they have matched world class facilities with world class performances.
“I must commend the Super Eagles for their discipline, hunger, and unity,” he stated.
“They have represented Nigeria with pride. From the backline to the attack, the players have been outstanding, and they deserve congratulations for making the nation proud on such a big stage.”
Using the AFCON experience as a reference point, the Monimichelle CEO called for urgent investment in similar stadium infrastructure across Nigeria, stressing that construction must go hand in hand with a strong maintenance culture.
“Building elite stadiums is important, but maintaining them is even more critical,” Egbe said.
“Nigeria has the capacity to deliver world class pitches, but we must institutionalize maintenance culture so these facilities remain top quality for years, not just months.”
He concluded by urging stakeholders to see sports infrastructure as a long term national asset. “What we are seeing in Morocco should inspire us,” Egbe added.
“If Nigeria commits to elite pitch construction and proper maintenance, our players will consistently perform at the highest level. Once again, congratulations to the Super Eagles you are showing what is possible when talent meets the right environment.”
