The Department of State Service (DSS) has appointed new officers to oversee security matters relating to the Super Eagles and five other national teams.
The move according to a reliable source is facing resistance from the officers who were recalled after spending years with the teams and the NFF who felt DSS cannot assign teams to the officers directly.
A reliable source told our correspondent that the appointment is part of a wider effort by the secret police to enhance coordination, intelligence sharing and overall safety around Nigeria's national football teams during local and international assignments.
The six appointed officers are expected to work closely with the NFF to ensure professionalism, discipline and secure environment for the players and officials.
Irked by the decision of the DSS to assign the officers directly to the Super Eagles, Super Falcons, Flying Eagles, Falconets, Flying Eagles and the Golden Eaglets, the NFF is set to reject the appointments and considering requesting for the officers when the need arises.
Meanwhile, when contacted over the development, the Director of Communication at the NFF, Dr. Ademola Olajire , said he's not aware of the new officers drafted to the respective National teams.
