Recent encouraging happenstances in Delta state sports community portrays intentional moves by the state government to reposition sports in the state.
Its no-gain saying that Delta State once held sway in Nigerian sports and led in the production of talented athletes that have gone ahead to represent Nigeria proudly on the continental and global stages.
Now the Delta State Sports Commission led by Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, has taken plans to reposition sports in the state, steps further with several developmental programmes, as exemplified by the ongoing reconstruction of the Warri City Stadium.
Speaking with Sports Chronicle Magazine, renowned sportspreneur and FIFA licensed agent, Dr. Drew Uyi, who visited the stadium to inspect the transformation at the behest of the Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission site praised the quality of works done so far, at the stadium, describing it as impressive.
The Edo-State born football expert, gave the stadium top ratings for the FIFA standard lush pitch, top notch security system and other upgraded at the 15,000 capacity Stadium.
"I must commend Gov. Sherif Oborevwori for the intentionality of his commitments to the development of sports in the state, particularly, the engagement and empowerment of youths of the state through sports," he remarked.
"It is a fact too, that the state sports commission's chairman Onos Oborevwori, is equally passionate about repositioning sports in Delta state, as well as, ensuring the state regain its glory, as the best in sports development in the country.
"This Warri City Stadium, I believe, would provide Nigeria with alternative football facility of international standard. And this is how you build the future of football with purpose, precision, and ambition," he added.
