Preparations are underway for the National Track Championship as Nigeria's top cyclists gear up for selection ahead of the 2026 Confederation of African Cycling, CAC African Track and Para-Track Cycling Championships in Abuja.
The continental championships will take place in two phases at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome.
The first would be the Para-Track events scheduled to hold May 9-11, 2026 while the Track Championships follow from 13-17 May, 2026.
The preparatory phase, according to the Technical Director of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, CFN, Bashir Mohammed, is a critical step in assembling a strong Team Nigeria contingent, with the cyclists undergoing structured performance assessments and competitive evaluation.
With Abuja set to host cyclists from across the continent, the NSC in collaboration with the CFN, is focused on ensuring Nigeria presents a competitive, well-prepared and merit-based national team
