Sunshine Stars' coach, Kennedy Boboye has described the just concluded 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season as a difficult one but gives thanks to God for steering the team out of murky waters.

He also appreciated his players and other officials for a good fight towards the tail end of the season

"It was a difficult season but I'll first give thanks to God Almighty for the grace to stay through. I will also appreciate my players and other officials for staying strong towards the tail end of the league," he said.

On plans for Sunshine Stars for next season, Boboye said he would not want to reveal his plans for now.

" I will not want to reveal my plans now, if I have the opportunity, I will love to sit down with the number one citizen of the state and other stakeholders to fashion out the way forward," he quipped.

Would he have steered Heartland away from relegation if he had stayed with them till the end of the season? Boboye shouldered, saying that the Owerri team got a coach they considered better than him.

Boboye had a five straight-match unbeaten with Heartland after joining the team that had not recorded victory in ten matches before he joined them.

" Ifeels my staying with Heartland wasn't good enough cause they wouldnt have asked me to go, for them a better person was brought in, good luck to them," he said.

Sunshine Stars lost 2-1 to Niger Tornadoes at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna in the last match of the 2023/ 2024 NPFL season.

Sunshine came 10th on the table with 52 points.
