Bassey loses 2nd match as Fulham captain

Calvin Bassey has lost his second match in a row as captain of Premier League side, Fulham.

Bassey's first match as captain was a Premier League opening fixture against Chelsea on August 24, 2026 and it ended in a 3-2 defeat at the Craven Cottage.

Although African excellence was on display, but not by the Nigerian duo as Bassey and Alex Iwobi found themselves on the losing side as Sunderland defeated Fulham 1-0.

Despite Iwobi and Bassey starting the game, the African talent who stole the show was Senegalese substitute Habib Diarra, who came off the bench to deliver the match-winning assist for Wilson Isidor.
