ANFASSC propels Nigeria to 4th Unity Cup crown

The Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC) has once again etched its name into Nigerian sporting history, providing the wall of noise, colour, and unflinching devotion that helped propel the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a commanding 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the 2026 Unity Cup Final at The Valley Stadium in Charlton, London, on Saturday, May 30.

Nigeria are now the sole and undisputed monarchs of the Unity Cup — the only nation to have won the tournament in all four editions of its history. ANFASSC was present for every single one.

Before a ball was kicked, ANFASSC National President Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi had made a vow: "Our drums, trumpets, voice and spirit are ready. The players should expect maximum support from us." From the semi-final against Zimbabwe — which Nigeria won 2-0 — through to the final whistle against Jamaica, every word of that promise was honoured. Prince Ogunjimi did not send a delegation — he led one. Personally flying in from Nigeria alongside ANFASSC members, the National President was visible in the stands throughout the tournament, embodying the hands-on, front-line leadership that has come to define ANFASSC under his tenure.

ANFASSC also takes this moment to express profound appreciation to Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, whose steadfast support for this organisation and genuine love for Nigerian sport continue to be a source of strength and direction. The club equally celebrates Chief Yemi Idowu, whose commitment to the growth of Nigerian sport at every level resonates deeply with everything ANFASSC stands for. And to Kunle Soname — a man whose enthusiasm for Nigerian football is as legendary as his investment in its future — ANFASSC salutes you. These three gentlemen represent the kind of partnership and solidarity that makes movements like this one possible.

In front of a raucous atmosphere that ANFASSC played a decisive role in creating, Nigeria went ahead in just the third minute through midfielder Alhassan Yusuf, who reacted quickest after the Jamaican goalkeeper spilled a header into the danger area. Captain Terem Moffi doubled the advantage, and Yusuf sealed the result with a brilliant curling finish in the 90th minute to complete his brace and cap a night of total Nigerian dominance. Unlike last year's final — which required a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over the same Jamaican opponents — this time there was no doubt. Nigeria won with authority, and the green-and-white faithful of ANFASSC ensured that every moment of that performance was met with the atmosphere it deserved.

While the celebrations from London are well-deserved, ANFASSC's leadership is clear-eyed about the road ahead. The Super Eagles' summer programme continues with friendlies against Poland in Warsaw and Portugal in Leiria on June 10, and AFCON qualifiers loom on the horizon. But the mandate of ANFASSC extends far beyond the senior men's football team.

As the most organised and passionate supporters body in African sport, ANFASSC is actively preparing for a broader calendar of Nigerian sporting engagements — including athletics, basketball, boxing, wrestling, and para-sports competitions where Nigerian athletes deserve the same fire that lit up London this past week.

"What we showed in London must become the standard across all Nigerian sport," said Prince Ogunjimi.

"Our athletes — on the track, in the ring, on the court — deserve to feel they have a nation behind them. ANFASSC will be there."
