Akwuegbu: I've the capacity to change Nigeria's football fortunes

With the expected reforms by the National Sports Commission (NSC) of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) steadily in place, one man has showed face to help drive the process.

A former Nigeria international, Benedict Akwuegbu has expressed willingness to assist the NSC in meeting the expectations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerians in driving Nigeria's football to satisfactory level and return joy to Nigerians.

According to Akwuegbu, he's the man to help with the revival of football in the country, stressing that haven gone through all the stages of football administration, both at home and abroad, he sure has the required the experience to function effectively as the President of the NFF.

"I played the game, administered it both in Nigeria and Europe. And I've observed the pitfalls of the various former presidents and I've been able to come up with a blueprint to assist with the NSC reforms.

"At the right time, I'll publish my blueprint for Nigerians to view and critique my plans because I'll be serving them, so they can know the plans I've for the game in the country," he said.

Akwuegbu, who carried Nigeria's flag as a professional player in Austria, said ex-players stand to benefit from his developmental programmes just as all other stakeholders like the club owners, the referees and the players, especially at the local levels, the leagues and the academies.

"All I want is to help with the true reforms being propounded by the NSC through the Federal Government," he stated.
