Host Edo State is leaving no stone unturned with its avowed slogan "Host to Win" as it's widening the gaps on the medals table.

As at close of yesterday's events, Team Edo dominates on the overall with a total of 31 medals comprising 15 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals.

The closest rival, Team Delta is tortoisely pursuing with 9 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze medals for a total haul of 28 medals.

Coming third is Bayelsa with 8 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals totalling 15 medals.

Team Rivers, another sports powerhouse in the region is shadowing on fourth place with 2 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Ondo State is placed fifth with a total medal haul of 2 gold and 3 bronze medals with no single silver followed by Akwa Ibom State with a miserly 1 gold, 4 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Cross River is only better than Imo State on 8th position with a difference of two bronze medals.

Cross River and Imo share 1 gold and 2 silver medals each to place 7th and 8th respectively.

Breathing in the rear is Abia State with no gold and bronze medals but appears contended hauling silver, a total of 6, to show they are in Benin not to compete but just to complete the numbers.
