2026 World Cup qualifier: Igbinedion tips Super Eagles to beat Rwanda in Kigali
Two-time governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Nosaghare Igbinedion, has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles of Nigeria have what it takes to conquer Rwanda National team on their home soil when both countries meet on March 21 for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Kigali. The former governor stated this over the weekend while declaring open this year's edition of Kada Unity Cup at his Etete Sports Complex, Benin City. He maintained that the Rwanda national team should not give Nigerians sleepless night, adding that the Eric Chelle tutored side has all it takes to destroy them at home. "As you know, we are very passionate of our Super Eagles, every right thinking Nigerian would want to our national flag hoisted at the 2026 Mundial. We have highly talented young players scattered across Europe doing very well in their various clubs. So qualifying for the World Cup shouldn't give us sleepless nights. "If the NFF and the technical know what to do, Rwanda will be a easy team to beat. I have confidence that our boys will do us proud. The World Cup without Nigeria won't make sense," he enthused. On the Kada Unity Cup, the former governor said; "I am very excited to watch good football. The main aim of the Kada Unity Cup is to foster unity among military and paramilitary organisations in the state. You can see the crowd here today. "Football you all know is a unifying factor, you can see young uniformed men sweating out this is to keep them mentally and physically fit, it will also enhance the performance of their job. "I commend the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for doing a wonderful job." "They are not only playing for fun, money and other incentives are involved. This competition stated last year, so as long as there life, we shall continue to host it. Very soon we would extend invitation to other states.
