No fewer than 80 ladies from golf clubs across the country and 125 men are on ground to compete for honours as the 2025 11th Kaduna Golf Club 1921 Ladies Golf Championship teed off on Thursday January 9, 2025.

The annual tournament saw the participating golfers dressed in green and white apparels as several dignitaries were on ground to witness the tee off at the lush green course of Kaduna Golf Club.

The four-day championship is expected to end on Sunday with presentation of prizes to winners.

Today, there will be a special barbeque, while Saturday will feature Old School Nite, among other events after the days play of Veterans Men Category and Ladies Category.

Speaking at the after the tees off, Mr Ken Nwankwo said women are the one that organise the home front so people should expect action, Justina Gideon Kaduna Ladies Golf Club captain said they are all well prepared, stressing that 80 women and 125 men are on ground to bring glamour to the championship.

The first vice president of Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, Lami Ahmed appealed to the men, especially the northern men to allow their wives to come out and play the game of golf. According to her, religious should not be a barrier because there are various ways of dressing to cover the body. She added that golf can be played from the age of 6 to 99.

The president of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, Mrs Evelyn Oyome thanked the host for making the course beautiful and she welcome all the golfers to the city of Kaduna.

The championship will climax on Sunday with presentation of prizes.
