World Cup 2026 opening week sets tournament tone on SuperSport

The FIFA World Cup 2026™ begins with a packed opening round of fixtures that immediately set the tone for the expanded 48-team tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

With 104 matches scheduled over 39 days, the group stage opens with a steady flow of headline encounters, early statement games and key continental clashes that will shape the direction of the competition. For viewers in Nigeria, live coverage will be available on SuperSport via DStv and GOtv throughout the tournament.

The action begins on Friday, 12 June with Korea Republic vs Czech Republic at 3:00 am, followed by Belgium vs Egypt at 8:00 pm in an early European-African encounter that sets the tone for the opening week.

On Saturday, 13 June, the schedule continues with United States of America vs Paraguay at 2:00 am and Qatar vs Switzerland at 8:00 pm. The standout fixture follows at 11:00 pm as Brazil face Morocco, bringing together South American pedigree and African momentum after Morocco’s recent rise.

Sunday, 14 June features Germany vs Curacao at 6:00 pm and Netherlands vs Japan at 9:00 pm, both expected to test early tournament rhythm and structure.
