UCL: Lookman progresses as Osimhen's Gala out

It was a contrasting fortunes for the two Nigerians remaining in the UEFA Champions League.

While Ademola Lookman and his team, Atletico Madrid booked a spot in the quarter finals, Victor Osimhen couldn't salvage a passage for Galatasaray as Liverpool walloped the visitors from Turkey 4-0.

Liverpool made no pretence they were out to redeem their image as European football super powers by annihilating Galatasaray complete with their talisman, Victor Osimhen.

Goals from Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Gravenberch in the 25th, 51st, 56th minutes and Mohammed Salah in the 62nd minutes were enough for the Reds to progress to the quarter final.

In England, Ademola Lookman return to a familiar turf, assisting with Atletico Madrid's equaliser tucked in by Julian Alvarez in the 47th minute.

Before then, Kolo Muani got Tottenham ahead in the 30th. Xavi Simons increased Spurs' leas in the 52nd minute but Hancko levelled scores at 2-2 for Atleti in the 75th minute.

At the end of proceedings, Atletico Madrid progressed into the quarter final on a 7-4 aggregate.
