Benin City played host to a significant gathering as the City Boy Movement brought its South-South regional tour to Edo State, attracting a large turnout of political stakeholders, youth groups, and supporters.

The Director-General/CEO, H.E. Comrade Philip Shaibu, was among key figures present at the event, where he engaged with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Grand Patron of the movement.

Their interaction shows ongoing collaboration among leaders and influencers working to strengthen youth participation in governance and national development.

The City Boy Movement, a youth-driven political advocacy platform, continues to expand its reach across the country, with a focus on mobilising Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 50 for civic engagement, political awareness, and grassroots development. Its visit to Edo State marked a strategic step in consolidating support within the South-South region.

Earlier, Governor Monday Okpebholo received the delegation at the Government House in Benin City, alongside the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawale.

The governor described the initiative as a coordinated platform deserving of broad-based support, noting that its vision aligns with efforts to build a more prosperous and united Nigeria.

He expressed optimism that the movement would further inspire Nigerian youths to take active roles in shaping the country’s future, while also reaffirming his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The Minister of Youth Development stated that the visit was aimed at engaging both the state leadership and young people in advancing the objectives of the movement, particularly in fostering collaboration and inclusive participation.

The engagement in Benin City witnessed strong attendance, underscoring the growing momentum of the City Boy Movement as it continues to resonate with a wide demographic of Nigerians. Stakeholders at the event emphasised the importance of sustained youth mobilisation and strategic coordination ahead of the 2027 general elections.

With planned activities across Edo State’s 18 local government areas, the movement is expected to deepen its grassroots engagement before extending its outreach to other states in the South-South region.

Shaibu, his presence at the event highlights his continued involvement in national conversations around youth development, political participation, and grassroots mobilisation, aligning with broader efforts to strengthen democratic engagement across the country.
