Oxford Utd weighing up transfer swoop for Ovie Ejaria
Oxford United has taken Ovie Ejaria on trial as it considers offering him a contract for the team's return to the Championship.
Ejaria hasn't played competitively in over six months but could be a smart signing for Oxford if his fitness is up to par.
The club is in search of bargains and players with a point to prove, as it prepares for the upcoming season in the second tier.
Oxford United has taken former Reading man, Ovie Ejaria on trial as it considers offering the midfielder a contract ahead of a return to the Championship.
The 26-year-old had previously been with Reading, but it was announced back in December that Ejaria had left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
Since then, Ejaria has yet to return to the professional game, but he has had trial spells at different clubs, including Plymouth Argyle.
Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday are also one of the clubs believed to have had an interest in him previously.
However, it seems as though the U’s are now taking a closer look at Ejaria, as it was confirmed by Reading that the player is on trial with Des Buckingham’s side, which came after footage showed Ejaria as part of the Oxford United group that beat Oxford City in a pre-season friendly on Friday.
It’s unclear how long the former Liverpool youngster will be spending with the newly-promoted side, but the boss is clearly looking at ways to improve his squad ahead of their Championship season.
