Osimhen's tired, says Napoli coach

Napoli's new coach, Francesco Calzona has defended why he substituted the club's leading goal scorer, Nigeria's Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen scored his second goal in two matches, but it was not enough for the Partenopei to secure a much-needed victory.

But Calzona, who pulled out the Africa Footballer of the Year in the 55th minutes , said the Super Eagles striker needed time to get back to his full potential.

“He was only tired. Victor is a fantastic guy. He scored two goals in two matches and will slowly get back in shape,” said the Partenopei boss.
“Don’t forget he played at AFCON. Players are devastated when they return. He was tired also against Barcelona, but players always want to stay on the pitch.”
