The president Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod has recounted the loss of the volleyball beach national team missing out in the last three Olympic games.

Speaking at the finals of the Presidential Beach Volleyball Cup in Kaduna, Engineer Nimrod said it's high time Nigeria beach volleyball team fly it flag at the Olympics .

"We missed the last three Olympics and it was painful, the last one we came second. It's sad that only one country represent African at the Olympics unlike other ball sports."

He added that the performance of the African teams in international tournament has been the problem. "African teams have not been doing well in beach volleyball international competition. We need to improve, although we are fighting for another space for the Olympics so we can have two teams representing Africa," he said.

Engineer Nimrod said the Nigeria beach volleyball national team will resume camping in Kaduna next week for the African qualifiers in Morocco from June 16-24.

"We will put in our best to be at the Olympics this time around and we the official and players are determined to pick the sole ticket," he assured.
