Super Eagles' top marksman, Victor Osimhen was literally subjected to scorn towards his perceived unruly attitude to fellow teammate, Ademola Lookman during the 4-0 win over Mozambique Monday night.
Scores of Nigerians took to twitter (now X) to rain negative comments on the Galatasary's striker for his gesture towards Lookman for what they believe was Osimhen's unsportsmanlike behaviour at fellow colleague.
Reactions from X (formerly Twitter) varied, with many seeing him becoming too big or fooling himself.According to Oluwasegun (@Presid...): "Please don't bring this here. How many touches did Osimhen have during the game? Talking like he was all over the place. We don't care whether we win or lose at this point. Take his rickety behaviour away till he fixes himself up. Last time was he bashing a coach."
For Harvey (@akajoebass): "Osimhen acts like he is a bigger global star than Lookman. He is not! If Osimhen has a Serie A title to show, Lookman has a European title to show. Both have won the African Footballer of the Year. Jagun Jagun needs to relax that ego."Olawale Adigun (@Spor...) was too direct in his attack on the striker."Osimhen is a spoilt brat. The NFF has allowed this nonsense to fester for so long and he feels larger than life. Arrant Nonsense!!!!"Another user, Kryptic (@kryptomaniac_) says "Then you confront your own player on the pitch??? As a matter of fact, you can be very right but the moment you shout on your player or walk off like Osimhen did, all the blame will be on you."
"Na only one person get problem abeg, and it's Osimhen! I've never seen Lookman or any other complain when they don't get passes! Osimhen complains so much he forgets to get in position; he forgets other players are 'world class' too," Olabode (@olabode_vi...) said. For IsraelOla Omo-Ola (@Iz...)"Osimhen go divide this team. You're not the only player on pitch bro. Keep the unity in the team!" while Olaitan Mubarak (@Faa...) says "I love the coach for humbling Victor Osimhen by substituting him. How can you be aggressive all because Lookman didn't pass the ball to him... Lookman still proved him wrong by making another assist."Arthur Obi (@kk_arthur) adds, "Osimhen shouldn't let his attitude ruin his legacy as a footballer. Tame your anger bro. The comments on Facebook Community Feedback weren't fair as well with Obani Chisom firing the first salvo."He feels he is the biggest star in the team. Mind you, this Super Eagles setup is now trying to play as a unit, but it's obvious Osimhen isn't reading the script."To Olakanmi Sanusi, he has this to say; "This is terrible. He can't possibly play in the EPL with this kind of attitude! No coach would allow this! Disgraceful!"Abolarin Babatunde Oluwatoyin directed his message to coach Eric Chelle, saying "He should be dropped to the bench and he should know that there are a lot of players looking for this type of opportunity to play for the Super Eagles."Gbenga E. Fayemiwo counsels the striker thus; "Team unity is the key; once it's sacrificed, cracks and defeat will be evident."Prof Prince Sulaimon Temitayo agrees with Fayemiwo, adding "You are 100 percent on point. Big European coaches won't condone this kind of attitude no matter how good you are. It's just too much from him."
