Nigeria has formally submitted it's bid to host the 2031 African Games, confirming the country’s ambition to stage Africa’s premier multi-sport event nearly three decades after the historic COJA 2003 Games.

The bid, presented during high-level engagements with the African Union Sports Council, builds on Nigeria’s strong track record of hosting major continental competitions and the growing economic impact of sports-led events across the country.

Recent championships hosted in Nigeria have generated measurable benefits across tourism, hospitality, small businesses, job creation, and international visibility.

Driven by the leadership of NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and DG Hon. Bukola Olopade, the National Sports Commission remains focused on positioning sports as a strategic tool for youth empowerment, unity, and long-term economic growth.
